If you're looking for a place to unplug without actually unplugging this is the place. Had a lovely fountain right outside our window. A young couple even got married on the little lawn area located in the middle of the court. Rooms are quiet but connected to wifi and dish network. I only wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back! - Ginger D.
My parents and I stayed here for 2 nights last Thanksgiving. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. I have been staying in the Santa Ynez Valley for many years and have tried just about everywhere. I have driven past the Meadowlark many times and never gave it a thought. But when trying to find a room at holiday time, it was one of the few places with available rooms. And the price was very reasonable.
The rooms on the website looked very inviting, so I booked my reservation. I was a little hesitant because of the 7 day cancellation policy. I called a few days before our arrival and spoke with the owner, Brigitta, who put my mind at ease.
And when we arrived on Thanksgiving Eve, I was greeted by the lovely Kelly who told me that my room had been upgraded - how nice!
I checked out both my room and my parents', and they were quite nice. Both were suites with king beds and a separate sitting room/kitchen area with a sofa bed. Free wifi is also included.
The property is picturesque and peaceful, and the best part is that it's QUIET. I slept better both nights than I have in a long time. In addition to the quiet, the beds are ultra comfortable (mom and dad thought so too).
Breakfast is included and is served in the dining room, or you can take it back to your room on a tray. The first morning featured a nice frittata, and the next showcased a delicious kale and carrot quiche, plus toast, yogurt parfait, fresh fruit, granola, juice and coffee. Margaret is the onsite manager and is wonderful -- very warm, friendly and a great hostess. Cookies were delivered to our rooms in the afternoon - a nice touch.
The Meadowlark is a nice distance from the tourist trap of Solvang, but is still centrally located in the Valley. I am very happy to have found this little gem and will definitely stay here again. - Travel Girl
Stayed here one night, it is an old style motel, pull the car right up to the room, very convenient. While older it is in great shape, good room appointments and very clean. great little recreation area in the center of the place, sitting area, fireplace, fountain. the owner lives on the property and the best breakfast we had all week. you basically eat in her large dining area, and she cooks your breakfast, we had home made waffles with glazed walnuts and banana. would definitely recommend. very friendly staff. - Ron R.
